Civet Networks
Civet Networks regrets China's recent decision to destroy thousands of civets in Guangdong province as a preemptive measure towards stopping the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Nevertheless, we understand the action is necessary and even reluctantly sanctioned by the World Health Organization (WHO).
As always, we advise against eating civets.
Civet, common name for about 30 species of somewhat catlike, carnivorous mammals. Civets are native to the warm regions of southeast Asia, southern Europe, and Africa. They have a long body about the size of a domestic cat, short legs, a tapered head with small ears, and a long, bushy tail.
